With an extensive content, interior architecture and environmental design refers to the capacity to develop a project and apply it across a wide spectrum, from individual furniture to multiple product systems and individual rooms to mass public spaces. Today, the aging building stocks of cities and the need to transform indoor spaces and their immediate vicinities in particular amplifies the importance and appeal of the profession of interior architecture and environmental design. Interior architects and environmental designers are among the human resources that will contribute to ensuring a much more effective operation of project planning and construction activities and will play a significant role in Turkey’s development. With the influence of constant change in technology, socio-cultural and economic life, the study of interior architecture in our country, just like in all developed countries, has become a discipline of its own.
The Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (in Turkish) Program at ŞEHİR’s School of Architecture and Design aims to cultivate interior architects and environmental designers with the advanced technical skills to establish comfortable, functional and aesthetic interior spaces and vicinities which provide people with a superior quality of life and are appropriate for the needs of all kinds of users, raising professionals who are highly aware of the requirements of the age, follow the latest developments, produce economic and contemporary solutions in response to problems regarding space-human-equipment factors, are equipped and skilled in the use of lighting, sound, climatization, materials and technology, possess interdisciplinary adaptability and coordination, and are sensitive to social and environmental problems.
